Evil

I'm using the only PC in my lab which is runnable at this moment. 2.4Ghz, 768MB RAM. This is the PC they are using to do the video-capturing experiment inside SMA lab.

Wont be any problem if I just surf web, go around and chit chat on YIM or MSN. But instead, I've installed Adobe Premiere 6.5 (cracked version certainly) on it and now I'm editing the video, setting my comp and In's lappy free from the heavy workload of that terribly memory-space-consuming program.

I dont have the admin priviledge on this PC, but they just left it on, hence ...

Bad news

Today my sup told me I can only go back to VN in 2 weeks, whereas the ticket I bought is from June 15th to July 15th. Feeling so down ... This time I wanna be home more than ever ... :(

Argghh meaning I can only see Mai and bro Tuan in only 2 weeks after 2 years, and I dont even know when I can meet them again .. :'(. I even planned with dad and mom to go to Ha Long Bay, Cua Lo, come back to my hometown to visit my uncles' graves, and many things else. Now sure I will miss lots of stuff.

Certainly it is the worst news compared to the lately stressful events

I've suddenly become famous

Yesterday I found it quite weird when the chiken-rice aunty and uncles looked at me, smiled brightly and said something very cheerfully to me. At that time due to the crowded canteen cum my often-so-blur ears, I heard they say smt about food, hence I thought: "Oops, have I become their favorite customer this much because of my frequent appearance at their booth? Oops sorry then not really bcoz' I like your food so much but more bcoz' I never have to wait long at the queue here" So I decided to smile brightly back at them, not forget to take some more green chilli to add in my wanton noodle before taking my steps away, pretending to be enjoying the food more than ever.

Today came the aunties at yong tau fu (argghh forgot how to spell @-)). They greeted me with a bullet-shaped eyesight, ~~sweat~~, and asked me: "You go test food never call me along ah? I saw u yesterday" I was frozened "Ughh are they blaming me for abandoning them to chase after my long-lasting-loved chicken rice? Ughh I never meant to, I love ur sliced fish soup but your queue is longer than my patience!" And this was what they replied to my astonishment "You never watched yourself yesterday on channel U ah? :O" .......

Oh gosh, phewz, I was relieved! Hadn't they reminded me, I would not have remembered about that media corp program I joined the other day. Okie sorry you guys, I was bluffed too, I din even know that it was on TV on May 26 instead of May 28. So if you hadn't seen me, it means you've missed it. Hah but dont be disappointed, you wouldnt want to see a greedy me then.

On another spot of news, I've finally got myself a camera. 3.2Mpx only but it sure worths much more than 99$ that I had to pay. Keke dont be jealous, wait for another Creative sale! I really wanna keep all of the memories I'm going to have during my last year as a student, and the camera will fulfill my wish. No need to go around and borrow Ky's everytime I go out again :p

"Honeymoon" period of my HYP

That's what our supervisor calls these few weeks when all we need to do is to learn from given tutorials and play with the mib510 serial boards and the mica motes. Quite fun though working with those equipments, basically bcoz' they are all alien to me, even though I've had a hard time struggling to get all those complicated stuff work together. However, today my "blink" program has run for the 1st time, phewzz...

One "good" thing is that I cannot connect to the internet inside my lab. Dont know why but In's laptop can't be configured to use the wireless card, and the Lan inside SMA lab uses fixed IP, so it refuses all of my efforts to step a toe onto the world of online enducement. *Hah* hence I have no chance to entertain my laziness, and all I could do is to play with the motes. I've unintentionally become a hardworking bee. So dont wonder why you cant find me online these days :p

Err ... is this blog becoming an HYP blog? I hope not coz' I've got a separate one for that already. Anyway it's the only thing which inspires me now hence I dont really wanna write about other things :D, guess I should start to learn about other stuff too.

Honor Lab

Errr ... I've got another lab yesterday: Honor Lab 3, level 8, SOC1. The reason why I chose that lab is bcoz' of the balcony on that level. Remember the small ground on the top of the building? In that small space I really can feel the sky above and my tiny SOC beneath me. I think when I graduate, this balcony will be one of the things I miss most about NUS. Why? Dun wanna tell :p

I'm kind of exhausted these days. Too much stuff to do and too many thoughts blocking my mind make me feel tired. *Yawn* I just want to go to sleep now!!!

First day in SMA lab

I finally got myself a cubical in SMA lab room 3. Visit me at S16 level 2 should you happen to want to look for me. The cubical is quite small, anyway I've got a wardrobe and a large table, and a totally private space, hence I kind of like it.

It took me the whole morning + half an afternoon to setup tinyOS on In's laptop, to find out in the end that there is no serial port for me to connect the MICA mote to the laptop. What an effort! So I had no choice but to change to another PC in the lab to try working with tinyOS for the 1st time. I'll have to bear with this shortage of equipments until they're able to get me a PC by some means, by buying, donating, or taking from someone else .. whatever, give me one soon plzz!!

In the meantime, I'll survive by In's precious support. What do you want in return for loaning me the laptop In? What about a bf? ;)) :-"

Other than that, the environment in the lab makes me feel rather excited. Everyone's working on the same thing, everyone knows the things I want to know. I disturbed Zhang Rong quite a lot today, but she's very nice, so I wouldnt mind disturbing her more hehe *evil*. Until now, I think the idea of working in a group is not a bad idea for HYP. More or less you have the feeling of being in the real working environment.

*Yawn*

Peaceful days with peaceful minds

Shu and I?n are two who always complain about having nothing to read for entertainment, but on the other hand never write anything for others to entertain, hence I courageously take up the job *blink blink*.

Since Shu came back to Spore, she has joined us for cooking. Heheh I guarantee you that our skill is more than enough to seduce any greedy stomach. Try it if you dare.

Ky's coming back here tonite, and NUS's gonna be so crowded again. Is the population here increasing? How come my Yahoo list is filled with lighted icons that makes me feel like it's during mid-sem when everyone's busy preparing for their midterms and projects!!! The same goes for MSN list *sweat*

Btw, after sis Thao came back here and moved out all her luggage, the room looks quite neat now. Hehe I think you should throw away some stuff sis, how come you keep everything and make ur life so difficult moving luggage at the end of each sem like that? :p If you do wanna throw, call on me okie? I'll help clear up and *ho^i cua?* to the best of my ability =p~

OMG it's May 17th already ...

Ey dont blame me for not updating my blog often. It's bcoz I?n is too lazy to write, hence the laziness transfered over to me, so blame I?n heheh *whistling*

Anyway I've got so much stuff to do. All the tiny tiny free time has been dedicated to cooking, making yogurt and practising guitar with I?n. The rest is used up for going to work, learning PHP and i-CreAct emall finalizing. I'm being useful huh? *blink blink*

The part-time work at Frost & Sullivan turned out to be pretty easy. All we need to do is making calls to VNese hospitals to fill in a 4-page survey about their X-ray and ultrasound devices. I was assigned 15 surveys in total, after 2 days, I managed to finish 36 instead keke ^_^. Poornima did ask me to come back to work today and tomorrow, hmmm although we get lots of money for that, I dont think i-CreAct stuff will be waiting for me, so ... sorry, no :(

Oh btw, I think you guys should try out the lib@esplanade. Although there're not any books there that may be of use to computing students (only arts books), the view is fabulous. You can seat at the sofa and enjoy yourself at the sight of Spore river right outside the window. It's really relaxing.

Silent week

This is the week when the only one I see is In?. Most of you have come back to VN, Sang is always at you-know-where, hence I rarely see him. After the 2 days moving luggage, the only significant progress I can make is the cooking with the assistance (or should I say, with the instruction) of I?n. Marvelous dinner, keke ... so full that we could go straight to bed to digest the left-over food ughhh ...!!!

Btw forgot to tell about the Media Corp treat, we had a chance to eat 3 dishes (unfortunately, all noodle!) introduced by 3 v v v pretty and famous and cute artists of Media Corp, Michelle Woong, Sherine and Hui. Catch me on TV, channel 8 on May 28th, 830pm keke (or 8pm I'm not so sure).

The pix tells you right away who those artists are.

I-CreAct is having some progress, i'm struggling with the PHP code though. I'm not so comfortable with the code coz' it's totally new to me. Hope I'll catch up with it soon. I'm still a little bit slagging about my HYP, nothing to do much except the papers. I'm still in the middle of the 2nd paper now.

Tomorrow I've got work to do the whole day, gonna be a challenging day. God bless me!

Freaking tired

It's always the same when it comes to the end of a semester, esp. at the end of an academic year. I've become fed up with moving in and out, then moving out and in again. It always takes a whole day to move the luggage from here to there, then unpack all the things u've just struggled your head off to pack up only half an hour earlier. And certainly, you have no time to eat, to sleep, even to take a bath. I smell like a fish being fed with mildewy worms now T_T.

And the room is now terribly messy, guess Ha, In and I will have to spend the whole vacation sleeping on the suitcases. Too many luggage ughh!!! Okie not that bad, at least we still have the table to sleep on!!

I want to eat now :((. Eat eat eat, how come the fridge is damn empty at this fatal moment :((

Gonna move to EA Tower Block tomorrow so I'm stuck among all the stuff now. Very very messy my room is.

Frens are coming back to VN one by one. Today is Ky, tomorrow is An, then Ha the next day. I still remember the feeling of summer time. It's so empty without the laughters of you guys around me. Anyway I've never liked summer time, even when I'm too busy to notice the emptiness. But luckily most of you will come back here soon, so I'm looking forward to spending maybe my last summer with you guys in Spore. Okie not last, at least I have another December vacation too, but as I'm from Hanoi, December is not counted as summer time :p

Finished 1 HYP paper today, and it's surprising that I'm interested in reading the paper. I guess I'm really up for networking, and it's a natural choice for me, other than comp graphics. Hope I wont lose out the pace, and hope I'll have a good time with my HYP.

I?n and I are going to cook this summer, so you guys watch out if we ask you to try out any "strange" dishes. I warn you in advance hence you have nothing to blame us later okie? Haha let's see how we can improve throughtout the summer, who knows if both of us can get a bf after we've mastered the art of cooking =p~ (oh actually I meant a bf for each of us, not to be shared lah :-j)

HYP blog

Thinking of creating a blog for my HYP stuff. Hmmm should I?

Anyway reading my HYP papers, and I do find that it's really much more enjoyable than my UROP papers. For comp graphics papers, it's normal to take 1 whole month to read a paper, even more, you may not believe it, but it's true, coz' it's not easy at all to figure out why the author comes up with such an alien math formula, and you have to start to work out everything from scratch. Seems like it's not the case for networking papers. Phew, I'm a little bit relieved!

It's strange, I really had time during the exam period. And now when it's over, I've become busy :@). Okie not really busy if you count the time I've been going out, but it means I don't have time staying home staring at the screen. I don't even watch movies or animes these days, the reason why my blog is so empty this week.

A few outlines of what I've been doing.

Most of my frens finished exams on Tues, so we went out to catch a movie and had dinner at once-used-to-be Bao restaurant. We din even find out that it's been taken over by another boss and changed to "Ngon". So take note if you want to go there and show them the discount voucher yah? :p

Anyway so sad Ky brought the camera together with the NOT-YET-TO-BE-CHARGED batteries, hence no photos to show u guys :(

Wednesday mainly I just stayed home and read some tutorials on photoshop and stuff. I guess I have a long way to go if I want to improve my design skill :(. It's really at a v low level now *sob sob*

On Thurs, I saw Alan again in the afternoon to submit the report to him. Haha din even hand the report and the code to him until now, but he seemed to be happy to see me :D, or ... he was happy coz' at last he's got his openGL book back 8-. At night Ky, In and I joined Ha to enjoy a free dinner with lots of good stuff, treated by Ha's fren who's been spending his vacation here in Spore for a few days. Thanks to him, we had a chance to try out some dishes that we never did, an obvious situation for the ones who are always in broke condition like us.

So bad had to leave early right when the crab was served. Ey 3 of you guys, you should have tapau-ed for me lah! Ate all and left over a crab pincer even when your fren couldnt have a small piece, tsk tsk!!!!

Fri I was really busy, had to go to school at 12 noon, then met my HYP sup at 3pm. He just briefed us some admin issues and let us be free until the end of this month. He did send us some papers, so I think I'll start working on them soon. After that went to PGP to help Shu move out her luggage to EA, finished at 6.30pm and rushed to Suntec for I-CreAct meeting. Ughhh was very exhausted yesterday so I kind of went straight to bed.

Just now Pig Ha and I went to Changi to see Shu off. Her luggage summed up to 5.4kg leaving alone her laptop, so keke ... it's really good to go with her to airport, not having to carry heavy bags, and in turn being admired for kindness *blink blink*, even getting treated for a cold Milo. Good huh? *evil laughter* (Shu's gonna kill me when she reads this!)

Anyway I'm a little bit tired, gonna take a nap and get working on HYP and I-CreAct tonite :D

May Day

Intended to blog about the May Day concert yesterday, but was too tired and jumped straight to bed.

The concert was quite fun, it started at 630pm but Ky, An and I din get there until around 9pm, hence we sure missed lots of good stuff. Anyway the sound is great, the singers are also nice. But I find that Sporean audiences are as silent as they seem to be. Even though there were lots of youngsters, the atmosphere was not really "live" as it was supposed to be, except for an old man who danced around eagerly, haha very funny.

The fireworks was also nice, but it can't be compared to the one I saw last time together with my host. I can't remember what day it was, but the fireworks that time lasted for 1 hour, and it was ... fabulous. I can't find the words to describe it, hope I'll have a chance to see it once again.

And to finish the day, we came to Thai Express to have dinner b4 walking around Spore river for a while. This is what we had last night. Ey, don't blame me for looking sexy, just yesterday only :">

CS1102C

Been surfing the CS1102C forum in ivle for a while. Haha it makes me feel regreted that I was not so involved in forums during my 1st and 2nd year. Find it quite interesting, and it really helps to boost up the passion for learning, like the CS3212 forum last sem.

Ohh the reason why I've been surfing it is bcoz' Alan is the lecturer for that module this sem, and just wanna see how he's doing. Hah Alan is really the kind of lecturer who would sweat and blood for his teaching :p. Really nice and caring, and he's the one who can make the class feel so excited after boring hours of staring at the slides.

That was the reason why I picked up my UROP with him lah, oops setting aside another fact that he's young & nice & tall & handsome :">

Did I mention to you last time that he played the guitar for me once I dropped by his office? Guess some of you know lah :@), anyway it's not really for me, he took the guitar (which costed him > S$1500 *sweat*) to CS1102C lecture, and sang a song he wrote himself (based on the rhythm of Top of the world)for the whole class to hear. Hah, many students were really enlightened by that I could see from their posts. I was too. Really interesting lecturer.

I'm also impressed by Melvin, I think he's 1 of those rare guys in soc who're really so passionate for computing, it's true passion, not bcoz' he has to study it for his career or smt. Uhmm maybe he has to, but I feel that it's not as significant as compared to his passion haha :D. But he's superious! He can spend so much time replying all those questions on that forum although he's not an TA, neither a tutor, nor involved in that module by any means. Maybe he was born to be computer scientist!

I wish I had just 1/10 of his passion :D

I just prefer a small new start

That's why I move to this blog. And bcoz' you guys stop blogging one by one, which is so boring as to what I think, I will keep blogging to make it an entertainment source to you :p.
